A transformative journey through the elements to
rekindle our passion for living and trust the flow of life
If you have ever wondered..
“What does it mean to be living?”
“Is this really what I want to be doing?”
“Is there more to life than this?”
You’re in the right place.
Our busy lives leave us little room to contemplate these questions.
Through the demands of modern life, many of us may feel overwhelmed – we’re here, but not really here – going through the motions, living on autopilot and disconnected from the vibrancy of life.
Some of us may even feel stagnant, stuck in survival mode – unable and uncertain on how to take the next step.
And yet, there’s a deep knowing that there is more to life than this.
Perhaps it begins as a subtle whisper; a curiosity about the nature of life…and this curiosity is what leads us into profound expansions.
Here at The Living Room, we are passionate about bringing back our joy for living. We do this by unlearning our capitalistic mindsets of what a fully-alive life truly means.
When we come together to explore these questions; to walk these paths side by side, reflecting and learning together, we open up the possibility to live deeply fulfilled by life’s simple joys.
Rooted in Presence
Grounded in Flow
During this retreat, we will immerse ourselves in mindful movement, breathing, and contemplative meditation practices that help to recenter, ground and uplift the body, mind, and spirit. Through these practices, we’ll cultivate healthy habits to nurture and deepen our relationship with ourselves, fostering a sense of grounding, presence and well-being.
All practices offered will be thoughtfully tailored to the unique needs and energy of the group, creating a safe and inclusive space for co-regulation and authentic expression. Each session will offer options and opportunities for personal adaptation, allowing you to connect with the practices in a way that feels most suitable and supportive for you.
Where we will be
In the heart of Ubud is where we will call home for our retreat together. Set amongst the lush jungle and soothing sounds of the river flowing alongside, we’ll be nestled in the nourishing comfort of wooden Balinese-style joglos.
Just ten minutes on foot to Ubud's central market, our hidden oasis offers total seclusion without sacrificing convenience. Set within over half a hectare of tropical gardens and wild greenery, the estate strikes the perfect balance between untamed and curated, rustic and refined. Open-air living spaces invite in the cool evening breezes, and traditional architecture meets modern comfort.
Who The River Flow Retreat is for
The River Flow Retreat is a transformative journey through the elements to rekindle our passion for life and trust the flow of life. Inspired by the question that underpins ‘The Living Room’, this retreat will be centered around exploring the inquiry: “Are you really living?”
During our time together, we will be meeting The River as a metaphor for life. Encompassing teachings of movement, direction, trust and surrender, we will learn about the concept of ‘flow’ and apply these to each element.
Is this for you?
Book in a free Discovery Call to chat with Gayle & Katie about what to expect. We’re here to answer your questions, and would love to connect with you!
Why should I join this?
The River Flow Retreat is not about achieving ‘success’ in the eyes of society; we do not promise that you’ll walk away with more money in your bank account, but we carry a deep intention that you will leave transformed, more connected to life, and richer in a different sense.
We are reframing our definitions of what a rich and fulfilled life means.
This is not a time to be ‘productive’ — there is nothing tangible to achieve, nor is there a specific destination to reach. This journey is a recalibration to a pace of living that is in closer coherence with life itself. Whilst these concepts might seem abstract, the act of reconnecting to the intelligence of life has several indirect benefits on your overall sense of wellbeing.
-
Those who are constantly on the go will have a chance to slow down, returning home more centered and at peace
-
Stepping out of the daily grind and reconnecting to what truly matter, perhaps maybe igniting a new passion or perspective on their life goals
-
Practical tools to integrate mindfulness and a sense of natural connection into everyday life (breathing exercises, stillness/awareness practices, newfound appreciation for slowness and presence)
-
Connecting with others who are on a similar journey, leaving with a sense of connection and support with like-minded human
-
This lays the foundation for a life that we truly love living; of freedom and non-resistance, and this can look a multitude of different ways! Primarily this expresses as an overall sense of feeling more present and fulfilled, and that no matter what comes your way…you can trust the flow of life.
Drawing inspiration from the interconnected dance of the elements in nature — Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether — we will explore how these ancient rhythms can guide and nurture our movement journey. Whether you’re an experienced mover or a curious beginner, our inclusive container sets a safe foundation that encourages self-expression, creativity, and connection, allowing you to tap into your body’s innate wisdom and discover new pathways of being to restore a sense of vibrant vitality.
-
Presence: Returning to the Body
Earth teaches us to come home to ourselves; to land, arrive, to feel our feet on the ground. It reconnects us to the wisdom of our body, and to shift out of the mind and into presence.
Stability: Creating inner safety
Earth represents rootedness. It connects us to the bones of our body, and teaches us how to build inner security and restore a sense of being deeply supported, especially when life feels unstable.
Belonging: Knowing you are held
Earth reminds us that we are supported by something larger – nature, creation, God, life itself. It reminds us of a sense of belonging that can often be forgotten in modern life.
-
Release: Letting go of what we carry
Water deeply supports emotional release and cleansing. It teaches us about softening our grip; loosening our hold on what feels heavy or stagnant within us.
Flow: Trusting movement and change
Where Earth grounds, Water moves. Water reveals the natural rhythm of life, teaching us to follow currents rather than to force direction. “The river does not need to be pushed; it will always find its way to the Ocean”.
Renewal: Returning to clarity
As Water purifies, it also renews. It brings emotional clarity, fresh inspiration, and spaciousness into places that may previously have felt stuck or stagnant -
Activation: Reawakening life force
Fire rekindles what may have grown dim; passion, desire, creativity, courage. It reminds us of our felt sense of aliveness and vitality, and of life moving through us.
Transformation: Burning away the old
This is the element of transmutation. Fire aids us in burning outdated stories, identities, and patterns. In the flames, we reclaim the glowing embers of truths long forgotten.
Action: Turning insight into momentum
Fire bridges vision and action – it teaches us that once a spark is lit, we can fan it into a greater flame. Fire says: now that you’re alive, what will you do with it?
-
Perspective: Seeing life from a higher viewpoint
Air lifts us above the noise of daily life. It creates space between stimulus and response, and allows us to see (and live) our lives with greater clarity and truth.
Breath: Regulating the inner wind
Air is the bridge between Body and Spirit. Through breath, we nourish the body and create capacity in the nervous system.
Expression: Giving Voice to Truth
Air inspires communication, creativity and authentic expression. It encourages sharing truth without fear, speaking from the heart, and allowing ideas to move/express freely through you. -
Spaciousness: Opening to the expanse
Ether invites you into the limitless field beyond opposites and into the sky-life awareness that holds everything. Here, you open up to the parts of you that are able to be with your experiences without becoming overwhelmed.
Connection: Remembering you are part of everything
Ether dissolves separation. It reconnects you to the deeper intelligence that flows through all of life. Here, we remember that we are never alone.
Integration: Weaving into everyday life
Ether wraps up the entire experience: it helps to gather insights from Earth, Water, Fire and Air into a cohesive and congruent shift. This is where the transformation comes together; not as a peak experience, but as a way of being.
